[Project:ThreeSixFive] Day [LXIII].

The Stoner 63 was a light machine gun/assault rifle that was used in Vietnam by the US Navy SEALs. The idea behind the design was that the gun was modeled around the receiver so that with the subtraction and/or addition of various parts, the gun could be used and function in different ways.

Today's seen me sew a lot. For a couple of hours, actually. My cousin-in-law and I moved furniture around my Granny-in-law's house and then I was going to go and help build that bridge that I've been talking about but the guy was a bit ill today. So I came home and chilled out with my wifey - a much better afternoon.

For today:

With only the Christmas episode left to watch, my wifey and I are nearing the end of Season 2 of Downton Abbey. A thoroughly good series - the third season starts in England in September, but my mother-in-law will have to wait because it's not coming out over here until next June, I think. Unlucky.

This is my drawing for the day. A new set of templates that I am just about to cut out and start to stuff. I hope I have enough buttons for the head. I only need two.

On the not-talking-about-guns-much point...

Look at this!

This is the AR-7. It's a survival rifle - designed to be stored small. Everything is taken apart and can be stored in the stock and when it is being stored in this state; it floats! It fires a .22 Long Rifle cartridge - packing a little more punch than the regular .22 cartridge. It's a nice little rifle and one of those things that's just good to have under your seat if you're offroading, I guess. It's get you the smaller things if you're stuck in the outdoors looking for food - rabbits, birds, squirrels, etc.

I'm off to make this new doll. I'll hopefully have it ready by the end of this week...

Peace.

[Project:ThreeSixFive] Day [LXII].

62 comes after 61 and before 63. ... The 60s are a bit boring so far.

For today:

My poorly wifey :( Here she is, cuddling with the puppy. He's like a big soft toy. We've spent the day at the doctor's office and on the couch.

A (warped) picture of the gang. Thought I'd doodle then out in pencil and see where it went. Not far, it turns out. I took the picture at quite an angle so that I had enough light but the downside is that they're now skewiff. From left to right; Phyll the mechanic, Tymm the mercenary and Qa'al the cricket herder.

Again, I post this just before bed. My wifey is a bit ill, so we're going to try and get as much sleep as we can.

Peace.

[Project:ThreeSixFive] Day [LXI].

61 is a boring number. That is all.

I've had a pretty packed day, so I'm nice and happy. Not as happy as I could be because my wifey has a pretty bad cough and it's kicking her butt. But we have some lovely cough suppressant, so she's doing better.

I've drawn out a few templates for some more sewing that I'm needing to do as soon as I can. That's good. I've also written a letter to someone, had a little Bible study time, cleaned the house and worked out a bit. We're tidying a house again tomorrow, so that's going to be fun. Another day chilling with my wifey!

For today:

This was the latter part of my day. After dinner, I just drew out a few templates. New ones, so I'm excited to get them put together.

This was the extent of my doodles today. Not a lot. I've been busy doing other things, so I don't much mind.

Bed time now. My wifey had another great day working at a daycare, so I'm happy for her. One more cleaning day tomorrow before furniture moving and bridge building on Saturday. Then it's a fully day at church followed - or intermingled with - birthday things for my sister-in-law. It's her birthday tomorrow, but she's on a school trip/field trip and then out for most of the weekend.

Peace.

[Project:ThreeSixFive] Day [LX].

February the 29th is only the 60th day of the year every four years.
The icosidodecohedron has 60 equal sides. I haven't done a shape fact before, so here's one.

I'm watching Adventure Time right now and it's amazing. Why I haven't seen this before is beyond me.

I've had a great day drawing out a mural that I'm doing for my friend. It's going well, but I need to get some supplies tonight.

For today:

I keep calling this the pond. It's the pool. I'm just waiting for the bullfrogs to come and populate it. Gonna eat me some frawg legs.

Thought I'd draw what I wore today. I fought off a big creative block (it's arrows are on the right) and got some big doodling done. With my pencil spear and sketchbook shield, I was ready to go. And go I did.

Yesterday I was talking about guns. Again. I'm going to make the most of it while I'm here. There were two more guns that I really like that was going to show you and also a rifle/pistol combo that's similar to the 4/10 shotgun and The Judge yesterday.

The former:

The Colt 1849 Pocket Model revolver. A beautiful little handgun, seen here with everything it needs to be loaded and fired. Not the quickest to reload, but it's so nice! I first saw this as part of a Vampire Killing Kit made by someone on DeviantART. A very nice looking kit - a whole lot of time and money had gone into it. The gun was in the description, so I could search and find some great images.

I found the gun that I saw yesterday. The guy we're working for at the moment once did a job for a family and, as payment, was given the woman's father's handgun. It's an Iver Johnson revolver made a long, long time ago. Iver Johnson was an American bicycle, motorbike and arms company founded by a gunsmith from Norway. This is the second model hammerless revolver and you can tell by the placement of the safety catch - it's on the face of the trigger. This means that the gun was made between 1897 and 1908. The hammerless part is apparent - there's no hammer to cock before firing - it's internal. It gives this pistol a very unique look and I really like that.

Finally, the 4/10:Judge parallel.

This is the Winchester 1892 .44-40. An amazing rifle that - yes - I would love to own.

This is the .44-40. I've had the fortune of being able to press a few of these myself and they are chunky! A lot of weight behind them. I've been told that they are the cowboy's choice because they are taken and fired from both rifles like the one above...

and pistols like this one. So whereas the shotgun cartridge is usable in the 4/10 and The Judge, the .44-40 can be used in both rifles and pistols alike.

Man, that's a lot of gun talk. I'll tone it down from now on!

I'm going to get some food.

Peace.

[Project:ThreeSixFive] Day [LIX].

'The Brighton Line' is the nickname for 59 in Bingo. After the London, Brighton and South Coast railway. My dad's nickname for it is "five and nine".

My wifey and I have had an amazing day cleaning a room! There's a lovely couple that we're helping out at the moment, cleaning up their house. Today we did their living room and it was really nice to be able to make a difference and spend a day with my wifey at the same time. Between them, they had a good few guns and I think I've found some new favourites. Or more favourites, at least.

For today:

This is an ode to my tablet because I haven't used it today. It's proper title is "Ode to tablet (with watermark and it was the closest thing to the camera when I picked it up)", but most people don't bother with parentheses.

Another monkey. I'm having a really great time drawing him. I'm not too hot with continuity, so to be able to have made and drawn a character several times is really encouraging to me! Once I draw out an orthographic I'll be one step closer to modeling it in 3D! (An orthographic is a front, back and side drawing for the sake/ease of modeling a character in 3D).

So here are the guns that I saw today. When I go back, I'll take my camera and grab some pictures of the actual firearms.

Sorry about the huge white blocks above and below - it's late and I don't want to take them off. This is a 4/10 shotgun. Single shot, breech loading. A wonderful looking gun. They guy has taken many a turkey with this.

These are the cartridges it takes. Tiny things. It teaches you to be a good shot - there's not a lot of time between missing something and it running away. Not enough to reload this bad boy, anyway.

Of course there's a pistol that takes the same cartridges! It's called The Judge. It'd be pretty nice to have, but it's only really for self-defense. Shotgun shot doesn't can travel but doesn't really do much after a distance. Apart from make you itch.

I'll show you tomorrow, but this is a nice reversal of a rifle/pistol combo that I really like.

Actually, I'll show you the other two guns tomorrow, too. I saw one a few weeks ago but didn't take down the name. I forgot all about it until I happened across it when I was looking for the second pistol I'll show you tomorrow. Very old, but really nice guns.

Bed time.
Thank you so much for reading.

Peace.

[Project:ThreeSixFive] Day [LVIII].

58 mph is the minimum wind speed needed to issue a severe thunderstorm warning.

I've been feeling poop all day. So not much got done.

For today:

This has been my day. Occasionally getting up to pee or stretch my legs. I haven't got the hang of having a sick-day and feeling ok about it. I feel guilty for not doing anything around the house.

This is Brögunn. Drawn originally (I think) by McWolf - see his stuff here: http://mcwolf105.deviantart.com/gallery/
Really nice. I've been admiring his Brögunn stuff for a while - nice character. I'll probably try another few renditions before I'm happy with what I put out. I like this one for the moment, though. A sick-day doodle. There's also no coloured images of this guy, so it's going to be fun to try and find a colour scheme that works.

I might push out another couple of doodles this evening. Not feeling too hot at the moment.

Whammy. Buh. Some colour. I need to get a better picture so my paper is white and not just off. If it's just off it warps the colour beneath it. Another day.

Peace.

[Project:ThreeSixFive] Day [LVII].

B'hrian Bloodaxe (the first Low King of the dwarves) killed 57 trolls in the legendary Battle of Koom Valley on Discworld.

Even thinking of reading some Terry Pratchett takes me way back to lying in a caravan in rainy Cumbria. I love that!

For today:

My new canvas! I'm so stoked to start this - I'm drawing out a big mural for my friend. The one who took me shooting yesterday, actually. I'm really looking forward to it! Pastels and markers and charcoal and everything.

A little skeledoodle. Sort of. It's either a skeleton mouth or a sewn up mouth. Eh. I know I haven't drawn much this weekend, but I'll get back into it. And I've drawn a whole lot more than if I wasn't doing this project. I know it's only a small thing, but yea, I wouldn't have done anything at all if it wasn't for this project. Not that I don't like drawing - obviously not! It's just that when one hits a wall or a block or a slow patch, one tends to slow down or stop for a day.

Well we met some really nice folks this evening. They train rescue/cadaver dogs. It's quite remarkable. Their old one - Levi - once detected a body 117 feet below the surface of a lake. One hundred and seventeen feet underwater. He was just chilling out on the rescue boat, twitched his head when he smelled that he was over the body and then his owner marked the spot on his GPS. Body found! Unbelievable.

I'm not feeling too hot and I ate so much this afternoon that it feels like I could give up food for lent and be fine. I'm going to sleep it off tonight and run it off tomorrow.

Peace.
